The Stony Brook University men’s basketball team hosted the sixth annual Stony Brook Children’s Hospital Night at Island Federal Arena on February 3, with every men’s basketball player and select support staff members wearing a jersey with a name of a Stony Brook Children’s Hospital patient on the back.
More than 20 patients and their families took part in the annual tradition. Patients got the change to sit near the court and also had access to a pregame “fan tunnel” where they saw the Seawolves run out onto the court for warmups. Fans were also featured on the video board and had the opportunity to participate in in-game contests.
After the game, patients were able to meet with players, take photos and get autographs, and receive game-worn jerseys from the SBU players.
The game was a success all around, including on the court, where the Seawolves came from behind to beat Northeastern, 59-55. Stony Brook had three players score in double figures, led by Dean Noll, who had 14 points, six rebounds and four steals. Aaron Clarke scored 14 points and Keenan Fitzmorris added 12 points off the bench. Stony Brook improved to 5-5 in the CAA, 12-11 overall.
