Solarvest Appoints New Chief Investment Officer  – BusinessToday

Solarvest Holdings Berhad (Solarvest) has announced the appointment of Daniel Ruppert as its new Chief Investment Officer, effective July 1, 2024. This strategic move underscores Solarvest’s commitment to expanding its clean energy investments both regionally and vertically.

The appointment aligns with Solarvest’s five-year plan, which targets achieving 1GW of clean energy assets through investments in both greenfield and brownfield projects across Southeast Asia. The addition of Ruppert is expected to accelerate the Group’s international expansion, enhance its position as a leading clean energy player, and drive innovation in sustainable energy solutions.

Davis Chong Chun Shiong, Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer of Solarvest, said, “In early 2022, we introduced a five-year strategic roadmap aimed at significant growth in the renewable energy sector. With the arrival of Mr. Ruppert as our Chief Investment Officer, we are poised to advance our mission to lead the clean energy transition and achieve sustainable growth across various verticals. His extensive experience in sustainable energy will be a key asset in advancing our investment initiatives.”

Ruppert brings over 15 years of experience in investment banking and business management, with a strong background in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) and energy sectors. His expertise will be crucial in shaping Solarvest’s investment strategies and accelerating the company’s growth.

Commenting on his new role, Ruppert said, “We are at a pivotal moment in the Energy Transition across Southeast Asia. I am excited to join Solarvest and contribute to driving this change. Our goal is to diversify beyond our current solar pipeline of 6.1 GWp by investing in various clean energy infrastructure.

We plan to engage institutional and impact investors, explore co-investment opportunities, and pursue mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures. Solarvest is well-positioned to expand its role in the broader energy infrastructure landscape in ASEAN.”

As Chief Investment Officer, Ruppert will oversee clean energy asset acquisitions, portfolio management, risk management, and strategic capital allocation. He is actively seeking investment opportunities in solar, wind, hydropower, biogas/biomass, energy storage, energy efficiency, and the electric vehicle ecosystem throughout the ASEAN region.
