DUNKIRK: Maureen “Molly” E. Meadows, 93, a resident of Chautauqua Nursing & Rehab, Dunkirk, formerly of Eagle Street, Forestville, passed Saturday, May 11th, 2024 at her residence, following a brief illness.

“Molly” was born in Lackawanna at the former Father Baker Hospital and was blessed by him on March 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Harold and Marie (Mullaney) Harrington.

She graduated from the former St. Mary’s Academy, Dunkirk, Class of 1948 and the former Deaconess Hospital (associated with UB) in June 1951 with a Degree in Nursing.

She worked as a Nurse Manager at Brooks Memorial Hospital Dunkirk, for 45 years retiring in 1996 and also at one time worked for Gulf Port Memorial Hospital, Gulf Port Mississippi.

She was a member of Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, Forestville, J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post 953, Ladies Auxiliary, Forestville, Deaconess Alumni, a former Village of Forestville Board Member, the Pioneer Social Club and Brooks Retired Nurses. Mrs. Meadows enjoyed gardening, holiday decorating and was a Buffalo Bills Fan.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Ann (Larry) Kordosky, of Hereford, AZ; Lisa M. (Frank) Fulop, of Port Burwell, Ontario Canada; two sons William (Jane) Meadows, of Forestville; and Michael K. (Shelly) Meadows, of Zebulon, NC. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; Joseph Sekuterski, Nathan, Rylee and Emma Meadows, Brielle and Liara Meadows, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Walter J. “Corky” Meadows, whom she married October 11, 1951 in St. Mary’s Chapel, Dunkirk and who died October 22, 1983, by a granddaughter Kristina Rose Feane, who died May 3, 2012, a son Charles Meadows, who died January 21, 2023, a brother James Harrington and by 2 sisters Darlene Schaeffer and Patricia Crowell.

Friends are welcome to call at Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main Street, Forestville on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, from where Prayer Services will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from Faith Community of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St. Rose of Lima Church, 11 Center Street, Forestville,at 10 o’clock, with Rev. Daniel Fiebelkorn officiating. Interment will follow in Forestville Cemetery.
